So, the more tokens she made within a one hour block the better it was for her. Once she made her goal, she ended her online session. She averaged about 3 hours each day and maximized her token intake. This helped boost her camscore. But was that her secret?

Changing performance

Maybe it was more a change of attitude than performance, for Ninja_Girl. Essentially, before she changed her overall view, she did what most camgirls do, worked hard to get tokens. There were times when she also gave cheap or nearly free shows, but this was not going anywhere. So she became more social and started to do less hard core shows. When she started to be more social and she started to build online friendships, her personality began building her online fan base. This took many months, but it has reaped many rewards down the line.

Trying a new approach

Essentially some of the most successful camgirls take 6 months to 2 years to reach a good level of success. So I recently read an interesting article about rank on Myfreecams. Apparently there does seem to be three important ranks: camscore, most popular rooms and the Miss Myfreecams rank. The default setting means that all models are ranked by camscore, but that can be changed so that all the models are ranked by "most popular rooms". What this means is that models with lower camscores have a chance to catch up with higher ranked models. But the only way they can do that is if they really take advantage of these different rank.

Unfortunately I have seen lower ranked models become popular fast and then they don't take advantage of the surge and fall back down again. It's unfortunate that there isn't a "how to" or tutorials to be more successful as a model on Myfreecams. Anyway, the last rank is the "Miss Myfreecams" rank. This is an indication of how much money cam models are really making. A careful look at these models will show that models of various camscores are making lots of money in the top 100. Over the past few months I have been making observations and doing research. Of course there are many mysteries about Myfreecams and the biggest mystery of all is how the camscore works, but besides that, one that that many camgirls seem to struggle with is how to be more successful on Myfreecams.

Why is it that some girls quickly rise up the ranks while others (a vast majority) sink to the depths of forgotten models. Although I can give many examples of how some models have succeed and others have found themselves wondering what they are doing wrong, I think it is easier if I share some great articles to help any camgirl on Myfreecams or other camsites succeed.

Five common mistakes Myfreecams Camgirls make

One of the most difficult things about working as a camgirl on Myfreecams or any other cam site, is that there are no tutorials on how to be successful as a camgirl. Those camgirls that have found a winning formula do not share it with other girls. However, there is an exception to that rule which I will discuss at the end of this article.

So let us start with the 5 common mistakes camgirls make when they start working on a camsite. This is specific to Myfreecams, but I am sure these rules apply to any camsite.

1) They don't talk to members or they ignore the room

Believe it or not, communications is the most important part of a camgirl's performance. It is her communications to her audience that pulls the audience in or not. I have been in chatrooms where models just sit there waiting for something to happen. They don't do anything at all. The most annoying models to watch are those that are busy texting on their phones or chatting on Skype or some other site. These models completely ignore their chatrooms hoping that someone is going to tip them. Sometimes they get lucky, but most of the time if you are not actively working your room, they you reap what you sow. Basically, if you don't do anything, then expect nothing.

So what should a model be doing? If you watch the top models, they are constantly talking to their audience. Sometimes it may be difficult because the audience doesn't always talk back, but at the very least you should be actively talking. Some models welcome each member that enters their room. This builds a personal experience for them. The main point is to talk to the members and to pay attention to your room.

2) They don't understand naked

What this means is that many camgirls believe that if they start off naked, they'll start to get tips. If this was true then all the models on Myfreecams would be successfully getting tips all the time. There are models that are always naked and don't get tipped. Why? The reason is because members want more than just to see a naked camgirl. This ties into the first rule above. Naked is not as effective unless you are talking, engaging and building your customer experience. There are a few models that have started off as non-nude and have become successful mainly because they know how to talk to their audience. There may be some other factors that have caused that type of success, but communications is a big part. There is a trend that as a model gets more and more successful, she gets less and less naked. The point here is that nakedness does not automatically equal tips unless it is tied into something else.

3) They don't market themselves

Again we see models that just sit in their rooms waiting for people to come. They don't realize that there are many tools online that can help bring them more followers or members. The first and easiest tool to use on Myfreecams is the Newsfeed. Just go in there and announce that you are online or that you are doing a show or something. There are members out there that have added you to their favorites without you even knowing it. If you use the Newsfeed tool, then you are automatically letting them know to come visit you.

Other tools that are helpful are Twitter, Facebook and even other members and models. If you get a loyal or regular member, that person can easily pass your name around via the member lounge or some of his friends. Twitter is a big one that helps build a big following. Of course you also have your profile where you can market yourself even more. Set it up, add your rules and incentives that can help other members know what you want.

4) They don't understand the camscore

It is not surprising that many camgirls and regular members don't understand the camscore. In it's most simplified explanation your camscore equals how many tokens you make per hour. If you do not make tokens in an hour then you don't make money and your camscore falls. If you make lots of tokens each hour, you are making money and your camscore goes up. That is as simple an explanation there is to it. So if you are a camgirl and you are sitting there for an 8 hour shift but only made tokens in 1 hour, then your camscore is going to fall very fast. If you want to make tokens, then you have to start marketing yourself, talking to members and working every tool you can to get some tokens.

5) They don't set goals and incentives

OK, maybe every camgirl does have a goal in mind, but they need to break it down into something manageable for their members to grasp. For example, if you are a European camgirl, then you know that you have to make a minimum of 20,000 tokens in order to get paid. So in a 2 week period, if you can manage to make 1,000 tokens each hour, then you can work 4 hours each day for 5 days straight to make 20,000 tokens. But how do you break this goal down into something more manageable? One way is to offer flashes for a low token price, like 20 or 40 tokens. I have noticed some successful models that do this and they get a lot of tips during their one hour. The point is to set low tip amounts with immediate incentives for members. This way they tip quickly and help you to get to your goal faster. You can setup tip games, raffles or any other method to bring in more tips in an hour.

CSS Class names for your Myfreecams Profile

If you are a member of myfreecams then you will know that you automatically have a profile. It may not be enabled; however, but you can enable it and start to fill in some details. Although it is not the greatest page on the web, you do get some basic customization options. But for the experienced css designer, you can take your profile even further if you know the class names and just a bit of code.

It is March 8, 2012 and it is International Woman's Day. This is the day to go out and compliment and appreciate your woman or women in general. There are many events that occur around the world, not only today but also throughout the whole month. Each country and organization has their own theme to celebrate women. But for your average guy, complimenting a woman is a great start. Happy International Woman's Day everyone.

Tools to help you design your Myfreecams Profile

Whether you are a model, a basic member or a premium member you get the option to have a profile on Myfreecams and you get the option to customize that profile. The great thing about the profile editor is that it provides some basic edits that you can do even when you do not know any web coding. However, the basic editor can only go so far. If you want to design a great profile on Myfreecams you need to know 2 things: CSS and HTML.

If you do not know CSS or HTML, well the good news is that it is not complicated to learn. HTML can be learned in about 5 to 10 minutes while CSS will take a little longer to learn. The best resource for learning these languages is going to the W3Cschools Online. It's a free service and you can learn the code to design your own portfolio.

Tools that can make designing your portfolio easier are either Firefox or Safari and a useful tool called Firebug. Firebug is an extension of these browsers. What it does is it allows you to see what CSS code is tied to a particular blog of HTML. Once you know this, it is easier to edit certain aspects of your portfolio essentially taking the guess work out of it. If you mainly use Internet Explorer then you can always try to right click on the profile and select "view source". This will spew out all the code that is on your profile, but if you are a novice and do not know anything about code, this will just be jiberish to you. Only use this method if you know code or are an advance coder.

In a later article I will explain some of the more detailed aspects of editing your portfolio, for now this is just an informative article to let you know what resources are available.

Changing the Cam Previews on Myfreecams

If you have been on Myfreecams for a short while or even if you are a premium member and wanted to learn something new, then this tip might be something that can help you browse cam previews.

Normally when you are signed in or just browsing as a guest you see the model's avatars followed by some options below their pictures. But did you ever want to just get a quick glance at their cams without entering their rooms? Well, in the upper right hand corner of the model window there is a link called filter. If you click on it you get a drop down menu called, "Display Type". By changing your display type to "Cam Previews", you get an instant snapshop of what each model is doing in her live shows. This of course updates every 10 seconds. This way you can browse quickly through the models and choose one that peaks your interest.

Megaupload and Megavideo's impact on Myfreecams

Just recently both Megaupload and Megavideo were shut down. This has an impact on many people that use their services; however, it also has a major impact on Myfreecams models. Many of the models on Myfreecams rely strictly on the userfriendly services of Megaupload. The models that used the service would make personal videos or custom videos for their members and sell them in their chatrooms. Now that these services are no longer available, these models will have to look for an alternate service provider. For some of these models, they now have to beg their members to give them a copy of their own videos because they lost their files when the website were shut down. In any case, it will be interesting to see what service replaces Megaupload and Megavideo.

How to Rate Your Tips and Rate and Admire

Many times a premium member will go in and tip a model on Myfreecams and they will do this regularly with models they like. Supposedly, rating your tips also helps the model's camscore. So premium members may ask, "how do I rate my tips?" The answer is quite simple. You can only rate a tip if it is greater than 90 tokens. To do this go into your account section and click on your token link. It should display all the tips you have done and it should display tips greater than 90 tokens. It will also give you a link to rate that tip.

It is possible that Myfreecams has automated this process and you may no longer need to do this; however, if it is manual under your account settings, you will see the link to rate the tips. In addition to this, when you have a private or group session you also get a chance to rate those sessions. If you like the model this is the best time to rate her.

The last way to rate and admire a model on Myfreecams is to go to her profile and click on the number of stars you want to rate the model and then click on the admire link. That's it.

How Camscores work on Myfreecams Simplified

The camscore on Myfreecams has been a mystery for a long time. The reality is that no one really knows how the camscore really works. But there is a general consensus on the main factors that do affect the overall camscore. Here is a summary of what is important to the camscore:

• Earning tokens per hour
• Away time affects camscore
• Your camscore average over a 60 day period
• The average of all models performing on Myfreecams

A very simplified explanation is, the number of tokens you earn per hour is averaged with the average camscore of all models to give you an overall camscore. If you are on for 1 hour and only earn 10 tokens then you camscore will be very low compared to earning 2000 tokens in 1 hour. Another way to look at it is if you are on 8 hours and only earn 200 tokens then your camscore will be very low.

The 60 day camscore average is based on your best camscores and your lowest camscores. If in a 60 day period you had a very bad day with a super low score and you had 1 good day with a very high score, then your camscore will be an average of all those days in that 60 day period. So on the 61st day, if your lowest score is no longer part of that range, then your overall camscore will go up.

There are many more factors that also impact the camscore, but these are probably the big ones that have a direct impact on the overall camscore. Of course every models goal is to get as many tokens as possible so a good goal is to earn 2000 tokens per hour.

How to add friends on Myfreecams

One of the common questions I see new members and new models ask is, "how can I add someone as a friend to my friend's list?" There are actually 2 parts to this answer. Let's talk about the first part.

If you want to add someone to your friend's list, it is as easy as clicking on that person's name in the chatroom and selecting "add friend". Or if you are not in a chatroom and you are looking at the main homepage, you can click on menu under the model thumbnail and in the popup window select "add friend". Of course if you are a premium member you can add as many models as you like, but if you are a basic member you are limited to 10 models.

What about adding friends to my profile?

If you want to add friends to your profile on myfreecams, then all you have to do is go to the friend's profile and click on the link "make friend". If they are a member on myfreecams then they will show up on your friend's list on your profile. If the person you want to make a friend is a model then she will show up as a favorite model on your profile. If a model wants to add friends to her profile, then it is the same process.
